It is that time of year again, right? The weather has got us a little confused and it is definitely a little harder to use words like 'tis' and 'mirth' (whatever the hell that is) organically. But hey! We'll take it! Since it is so darn lovely out, take a minute for yourself, swing by the shop and grab a patio-marg. You've earned it, probably. We are indeed open today, but might close a little early. So come make us stay open! We will be closed tomorrow/Xmas day. We will also be open till 9pm on New Years Eve. If you're planning on hanging out for all of Tie and Timber's beer drops it might be a good idea to 'lay the carpet' with a whole bunch of nachos. We'll be closed New Year's Day.
Speaking of holiday obligations, you can now trade money for gift cards at our little shop! Grab some while you are drinking that marg and make that lil taco/marg lover in your life happy.
And we have a new[ish] The Ringer out now: The Pineapple Pig. Inspired by two things: Instagram comments and a viral/meme hit. You all asked for 'Al Pastor' and we deviated a little bit! A goal of ours is to stay away from directly copping 'authentic' Hispanic tacos. Our friends at Don Toñio's, Cesar's and Perches are pretty good at those. So! Chef Dan added a twist with this one; we marinate pork shoulder in pineapple juice and spices, then smoke it, THEN add some fried pineapple (with pickled red-o's too). There ya have it!
We also started a fun little thing: SECRET HOT SAUCES. We know there are some hot-heads out there and y'all now know we are here for you. We've run through a couple of ghost pepper sauces during the secret trial and watching most peoples' reaction was worth exposing the secret. Right now our boy Miguel has his heady take on a habanero hot sauce [Code Name: Huitzilopochi, named after the Aztec Sun God]. Dig this: full habaneros (stems and seeds) and carrots that are flambéd with a saffron and lime zest infused tequila. YEAH! Not only is it beautiful (see pic below) but it packs a punch! Its also crazy good on the Ringer right now and comes in a cool little serving vessel. Bonus!
Lastly! If you need a little extra holiday cheer that is not in liquid form, throw that worn-out Xmas music playlist in the trash and create new memories with tunes from Aloe Blacc, Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, Donny Hathaway, Tuxedo, Kacey Musgraves and Brian Setzer. OR just put on Ru Paul's "Christmas at My House" radio and thank us later.
Cheers and Merry Chrimbus everyone!
