Just over one year ago we were treated to a late-night glass cleaning party at our little shop. NO THANKS to that wayward youth who decided to breakout our back door window in order to help theirselves to our irresistible wares. And what did our intrepid acquirer make out with? One half-full (or half-empty, we suppose) bottle of Patron Roca Reposado Tequila. And guess how much of that tequila was recovered later that night? PRETTY MUCH ALL OF IT. To be fair, the reposado (one year or less aged tequila in bourbon [usually] barrels) of the Patron Roca series is the absolute tastiest expression of the Patron Family (according to our self-proclaimed agave expert/co-owner, Doug); so perhaps our thief was actually exercising an acute judgement in taste. Probably not though...
It does look tempting, doesn't it?
So, in Team Taco fashion (pun intended), we have decided to celebrate the event with a limited edition T Shirt run, designed by Springfield's own, Chris Mostyn. You might recognize his work if you have gazed at his 'people-scape' mural while waiting for food on our covered (mostly) patio. Just like our food, its first come, first serve, so get to the shop and pick up your shirt while supplies last. We do have two nice color options, so use this time to decide on which one you would like. To further celebrate this occasion, as well as slightly piggy back off of the industry tradition of Wild Turkey Wednesday, we will offer pours/shots of the aforementioned Patron Roca Reposado Tequila. We're fairly sure its illegal to mention specific pricing amounts of discounted alcohol in marketing materials, but suffice to say, IT WILL BE A NOTABLE DECREASE IN PRICE (while supplies last).
Cool, right?
We also feel it is time to introduce a BRAND NEW THE RINGER. Unfortunately, it will not be discounted in price. People do often ask: Do you guys do 'cheap' tacos on Taco Tuesday? The answer is: No. We do not. So far, our food and nice-environmentally-friendly packaging has never been cheaper to purchase the day before, nor does our crew work for any less wages on Tuesday, nor do we substitute portion size/quality for one day, so our daily price remains the same. Hopefully this policy also removes any trepidation from people if they mistakenly buy tacos from us on a non-Taco Tuesday day of the week.
ALSO: just so everyone knows, we are not trying to ruin anyone's holiday by 'taking away' the Work of Artichoke. However, because 'Live by the Ringer, Die by the Ringer' is our motto (no one says this, actually), we are pressing on. Say hello to the Turkey Hot Trot! Smoked turkey, chipotle mayo, pickled red onions, cranberries, pepitas (crispy pumpkin seeds, essentially) and cilantro make for a very tasty The Ringer. Perhaps it can serve as a passive aggressive talking-point to families who have been unsuccessful at getting their Thanksgiving cook to move the turkey out of the oven and into to the smoker. Not only does smoking your turkey yield a more evenly cooked bird, it also frees the oven up for the million other things it should be doing. If anyone out there runs a lifestyle empire, hit us up, we're full of family-tradition-shattering tips (like Rosé is a great Thanksgiving meal wine). But don't count that Work of Artichoke out, There is a very good chance that it will make another appearance.
Delicious.
How about some updates on the conditional aspects of our shop? Yaaay! Its getting colder (sometimes) and darker earlier, so we will be adjusting hours. Starting next week will be operating from 11am-8pm, Sun-Thursday. Friday and Saturday we will still continue to stay open until 9pm. And if people keep coming till 9pm, we'll stay open. If they don't, we'll probably close at 8pm on those days.
In order to help our little heaters run effectively, we have some heavy duty awnings in the works to enclose our patio. Hopefully these can survive the 30-40 mph wind gusts that took out our last awnings. Stay tuned...
We still will continue our policy of only taking orders at our walk up window. I.E. no call-ins or online ordering. If anyone is late picking their food up, we literally do not have room to hold food warm AND to process new orders. Once orders are placed, it usually takes us 5-10 minutes to get even fairly large orders finished. So please help out any confused/angry friends and family that are visiting this week with this explanation. We have no plans to open our interior to the public as it has been annexed for 'operational use'. You can still take our food over to our friends at Tie and Timber. Over there the beer flows like...beer and they have much music.
Aaaaand it appears that our road construction is almost finished...for a limited time until they start the next phase of traffic easement. And as a FYI Bulletin: there is an OFFICIALLY SANCTIONED, LEGALLY BINDING PEDESTRIAN CROSSING just to the east of our shop on Cherry St. So please keep an eye for pedestrians/friends/patrons/taco shop employees using this LEGALLY ALLOWED WALKING SPACE. Fair warning to anyone who does NOT observe this while we are crossing doing work things, or you know, existing as human beings...
Team Taco xoxo
